I am sitting in the library trying very hard to hold back tears at the moment after a pretty meaningless conversation with a male ‘friend’, in which once again, I am made out to be ‘too much’ or ‘in the wrong’ or not worth talking to for expressing emotion. I am so tired. I feel physically exhausted at having to justify my emotions and my emotion-fuelled behaviour. I cannot FATHOM the inability of men to sit back, take a look at their actions and think ‘Gee, that probably does warrant an apology’. Or ‘Gee, she’s upset, must be for a reason’. Just because they didn’t experience the situation the same way you are too complex, too chaotic, too crazy. I feel like fucking Cassandra. I. Am. Exhausted. I am truly, truly sad.

Edited to add that: The irony of the fact I am sitting here writing my dissertation on the history of emotions is not lost on me😄
