Positive story, since I don’t see much of that on here.
During the summer, I was at Lowes picking up five foot steel poles to replace the bent ones on my fence. A black bear hopping my fence to get to my chicken feeders, dogs chased it out, and I had to replace the dozen bent poles.
I got them and during the trolley push back to my car in the parking lot, they fell off to the side. I picked them up and then they fell to the asphalt again. I’m not embarrassed because I don’t care. It’s 5pm on a Tuesday.
This guy with a cast on his broken arm walks over, picks them up and offers to carry six. Normally, this doesn’t happen to me. He doesn’t give off a bad vibe, so I say sure.
On the way, tells me how he broke his arm at work. We get to my car, I wished him luck on his workman’s comp claim, said thank you and then he went back to waiting for his cheese steak to be done. There’s always an Italian sandwich van parked outside my local Lowes.
Sad to say, I was shocked at how pleasant the interaction was. No hitting on me, no asking for my number, no asking personal questions about me. Just him wanting to help out and, I guess, talk a bit about what was bugging him. I wish more interactions went this way.
