First off, sorry if this is a common question.
I’ve been avoiding everything other than direct downloads for a long time because they all cost money. Seedboxes cost money, and torrents and private trackers all require a paid VPN (the consensus seem to be that free VPNs are not worth being free). Since I don’t pirate a lot, I don’t think paying for VPNs or torrents are worth it, and therefore have been using direct downloads all the time. They have everything I need so far. But the sheer popularity of torrents keeps me curious and I’ve been trying to look into it for a long time. What’s the appeal of torrents over direct downloads?
Torrenting is orders or magnitude faster. The larger the file the more you’ll see the benefits
I would direct download if the data was only a few tens of MB… maybe even a few hundred. After that, torrenting is vastly superior
My torrenting costs me the same amount as your direct downloading (nothing)
