I’m struggling to play 4k mkv files on my TV. I’ve downloaded 2160p H.265 files to a 2tb Seagate drive and then plugged it into a 4K TV.

VLC or MX player won’t play the file, sometimes there’s nothing, sometimes there’s only audio. I’ve tried Plex with the external drive plugged into my laptop but the plex media player on the TV just never stops loading.

Is there something wrong with the files? Or is the TV just crap? It’s supposed to be a Toshiba Fire 50UF3D53DB 4K UHD HDR and Dolby vision/Dolby atmos.

The files play with no issues on my laptop with a 1080p screen so that must mean the torrents are fine. Anyone know what I’m doing wrong here?
