Yesterday when I came home from a stressful day of work, my boyfriend was already home. He said he stayed home because he was feeling under the weather.

I asked if he tested for Covid and he said no. I pointed to the medicne cabinet and told him to do it right now. He used our last test and yup, he’s positive.

I was livid. It wasn’t that he was positive or used the last test - that was going to happen to one of us at some point.

I was livid because he didn’t even THINK to test even though we’ve been taking about rising numbers and seeing more people masking again. It’s not out of the realm of possibility. I also work in a school with medically fragile adults and kids, so I need to be cautious. How doesn’t he know that?! He knows what I do for work.

Also…his dirty dishes, all covered in Covid, were stacked all over the kitchen instead of the empty dishwasher. He knows this drives me nuts in general, but when you’re sick cleaning up after yourself is super important to prevent spreading germs.

Then I had to go to 3 different stores to find a test for myself. I needed to know my status as well. I’m negative for now.

It was a shit day. I’ve already been wondering how long I can play house with this man. This doesn’t make me want to play. He is banished to the guest room, not just because I’m mad but because I want to stay healthy. I made him out his dishes away and clean our bedsheets. He didn’t say another word to me all night.

Good riddance.
