I am a cis female, only 5’6" and 160 lbs, and I work in construction. It never fails that when I do some quick grocery shopping in my hi-vis shirt, dusty work pants and work boots, I get multiple women who very obviously keep their distance, refuse to make eye contact, or stare at me with wide eyes. I am not a mean looking person by any means. Other people walk in wearing hi-vis. Can someone please explain what is going on? Women need not be freaked out at the sight of me!
Just today, needing groceries very badly, I ran in briefly for a few things. It makes me uncomfortable because freaking people out isn’t my thing at all. The very tattooed cashier wouldn’t make eye contact with me at all, and she very softly, and barely audibly muttered out my total.
Why do women specifically behave like this?
