Sorry if this is TMI
I recently had to get an infected abscess on my labia drained. Prior to the drainage incision, the doctor injected lidocaine into my labia for “pain control.” I was not offered anything for pain management for the lidocaine injection. The lidocaine injection started, it was excruciating. I yelled and told the doctor to stop, then requested something for pain management… I mean she’s literally sticking a needle into my genitalia that is like actual torture. Her response- “the lidocaine is the pain management” like I was an idiot. Sigh. I gritted my teeth and with tears streaming down my face she finished the lidocaine injection (which took several seconds).
Has anyone had a similar procedure? Is this common practice? To administer a lidocaine injection into the labia without any pain management prior? It felt unnecessarily cruel, and I can’t imagine a man getting an injection into his dick or taint without any pain management prior.
I think I have an average pain tolerance and I’m not drug seeking… It’s just fucked up that now I find myself questioning, wait maybe I have a low pain tolerance? Am I drug seeking?
