It unfortunately looks like tvOS 17 has severely destabilized Apple’s native video player, at least in regards to time shifting (start from beginning) live in progress events. I’ve seen this same behavior so far with MLS games in the TV app and last night’s Eagles/Bucs game on ESPN+ via the ESPN app. At the very least when starting a live in progress event from the beginning, I’m noticing the following glitches with my Apple TV 4K 2nd gen…
-The stream randomly freezes.
-The newer gen Apple TV remote 10 second skip forward randomly causes the stream to rewind 10-30 seconds on the first press, but then immediate subsequent presses does skip forward.
-After performing an action like skipping forward, the video player overlay for the most part no longer automatically goes away.
I only started having these problems, after the tvOS 17 update. Hopefully some people from the tvOS development team are lurking here and see this, as I figure trying to explain this to a 1st level support rep would be a waste of time.
