Hey all!
For context: i’m a Non-EU national, trained and worked in an EU country as a physician (have not started specialty training yet). My partner (who is Swedish) and i are planning to move to Sweden in the near future. I’ve been able to find enough information on the Socialstyrelsen’s website about getting a medical license to practice but not much else on actual specialty training. I’m studying swedish weekly now and plan to do the swedish intensive course for foreign doctors when i move.
Does anyone have a better rundown of what specialty training in Sweden is like? From what i’ve been able to check online - its county council’s responsibility rather than university based. But what does this mean exactly? Would applications be done through the councils or to hospitals/clinics themselves? Does Sweden recognize international exams like the MRCP (UK) or MRCPI (Ireland)? Would it supplement specialty training exams in Sweden? And if it doesn’t, are these worth having in your CV or it doesn’t matter?
What is the current inteoductory training like for new foreign doctors?
How have you found adjusting to practicing in a new language?
Thanks in advance!
