Even though the post will be in English, i can understand Swedish perfectly. My writing capabilities are limited.

So, i wont go through the pain of opening a bank account without a personnummer. It is hard.

I visited a Nordea branch because my employer uses it and recommended so. They controlled the papers and said that all is good except my job agreement is missing signatures. Next day i came with signed agreement. The answer was “oh we forgot to say that you need to have skattesedel from Skatteverket”. Cool, i had one with samordningsnummer, ran back home got the skattesedel and gave that to Nordea. Then they said i have to wait while they investigate the papers, and will get called a appointment within 3 weeks. Next day i got called and visited the branch third time to get a answer that my pasaport is a främlingpass (it is not, it is the national pasaport of my homeland where i was born and lived my whole life). I showed my national id, driving license, uppehållstillståndkort from Migrationsverket that confirms my identity but they simply refused.

Before i leave i requested a written statement that they refused my bank account request. Their response was we do not give such paper.

An hour later i had my account i Länsförsäkringarbanken with the same passport and papers, but the attitude of Nordea and their way of refusal (one step for a time causing repeated visits) was very humiliating. All the extra requirements and refusals came from a guy that sits behind the office who looked at me and my passport with a somehow disgusted face.

For extra context, i am a medical doctor. I can confirm my profession, adress, salary, identity.
